Smart’s Electric Crossover Revealed In Production Form Showing Minor Changes
Smart used the Munich Motor Show to introduce the Concept #1 and the company wasn’t kidding when they called it a “near-production” model.
That’s abundantly clear as the European Union Intellectual Property Office has posted pictures of the upcoming crossover.
As you can see, the road-going model is virtually identical to the concept aside from a handful of minor changes. Key among them is a revised front fascia, which features new air intakes and a faux skid plate. The crossover also adopts a revised grille with a license plate bracket as well as a sensor plate for the model’s driver assistance systems.

Moving further back, we can see familiar cladding and side mirrors that have moved from the A-pillars to the doors. There are also flush-mounted door handles, thicker B-pillars and a stylish floating roof.
The rear end incorporates a number of changes including a new bumper and a lightly modified diffuser. The reflectors also adopt a split design, instead of being centrally located.
The interior echoes the concept as well as we can see a curvaceous dashboard with oval-shaped air vents. The model will also have a floating center console and we can expect it to be joined by a free-standing 12.8-inch infotainment system. While the concept was a four-seater, Smart has already confirmed the production model will have five seats that offer “legroom and elbow room on par with vehicles from higher segments.”
As we have previously reported, the model combines Mercedes styling with Geely engineering thanks to an agreement that was struck in 2019. Specifications remain a mystery, but the company has previously said the vehicle will ride on a purpose-built BEV architecture that offers the “highest level of dynamic handling and passive safety.” We can also expect “highly innovative driver assistance systems” and fast-charging technology.
