Hennessey’s 1,012 HP Dodge Charger Hellcat Is A Beast Of A Sports Sedan

The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat has never quite received the same attention as its two-door sibling the Challenger Hellcat but it is just as impressive in its own right. This particular Charger Hellcat from Hennessey Performance is even more special than most.

Ordinarily, the Charger Hellcat is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 churning out 707 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. However, Hennessey has developed an upgrade package for the super sedan that lifts it to new heights.

Among the modifications made by Hennessey are the fitment of a Magnuson supercharger that means the engine now pumps out 1,012 hp and 969 lb-ft (1,314 Nm) of torque. During a recent dyno run, that translated to 817 hp and 730 lb-ft (990 Nm) at the rear wheels.

The Charger Hellcat featured in this video is the Widebody variant and Hennessey has made some bold performance claims with it, asserting that it can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds while running down the quarter-mile in a mere 9.9 seconds at 141 mph (227 km/h). Of course, achieving those figures on street-legal tires is probably quite a challenge as we imagine the car spins up its rear wheels and loses traction at a moment’s notice and in pretty much any gear.
