Posaidon’s Mercedes-AMG G63 Is Nearly As Powerful As The Original Veyron

After paying a visit to Posaidon, this Mercedes-AMG G63 has become almost as powerful as the original Veyron (reminder, the Bugatti had 987hp / 1001 PS).

The German tuner has applied a lot of elbow grease to the 4.0-liter V8, replacing the two turbochargers, improving the air intake and increasing the boost pressure with a mix of water and methanol from the tank housed in the boot floor.

As a result, the V8 is now capable of pushing out a stunning 927 HP (940 PS / 691 kW) and 943 lb-ft (1,278 Nm) of torque, dropping the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) from 4.5 to 3.6 seconds. Top speed has increased from 149 mph (240 km/h), when equipped with the optional AMG Driver’s Package, to 174 mph (280 km/h). The stock G63 has 577 HP (585 PS / 430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm).

The ECU and transmission control unit have been re-mapped and since it is way more powerful than the factory model, the tuned 4×4 has also been equipped with an upgraded braking system. The carbon ceramic assembly consists of 16.5 in (420 mm) front discs, with 6-piston calipers, and 14.2 in (360 mm) rear discs, with 4-piston calipers. The new brakes are about 40 percent lighter compared to the standard system.

A new carbon fiber hood has been installed as well, though not for aesthetic purposes, but for improved engine ventilation, as it keeps with Posaidon’s principle of “no modifications without added technical value”. The roof-mounted lights help improve visibility at night.

For pricing and availability of the mods, and to find out how one can give their range-topping G-Wagen supercar rivaling levels of power, you will have to reach out to the tuner as they haven’t released any information.
