2022 Jeep Compass Lands In Australia With Revised Styling, New Trailhawk Variant

The facelifted Jeep Compass has just touched down on Australia shores with most of the same updates as the refreshed European and Chinese models.

A revised exterior look immediately distinguishes the new Compass from the old model. There are tweaked LED headlights and a new three-dimensional effect incorporated into the seven-slot grille, the fog lights have been repositioned, and there are new LED daytime running lights as well as a wider skid plate.

Three distinct trim levels are available Down Under. These include the Compass Launch Edition and Compass Limited that feature black bumpers and 18-inch alloy wheels, while the sporty S-Limited variant has metallic grey finishes, body-color bumpers, and multi-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels.

A Trailhawk variant has also been added to the local range and includes a unique grille, body-color fog lamp bezels, a more prominent skid plate, and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. The bumpers, fog lamps, and camera radar also sit higher to keep them safe while off-roading.

The inside of the 2022 Jeep Compass has also been thoroughly re-designed and includes a new 10.1-inch Ultra HD touchscreen display with integrated TomTom navigation and running the automaker’s Uconnect 5 system. This system includes advanced voice recognition, supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, includes wireless charging, and offers multiple driver profiles. Limited, Trailhawk, and S-Limited variants also come with an Ultra HD 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

Most Compass models come standard with Jeep’s 2.4-liter ‘Tigershark’ four-cylinder producing 173 hp (129 kW) and 169 lb-ft (229 Nm) of torque. However, the Trailhawk variant rocks a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 167 hp (125 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm). Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic, although the entry-level Launch Edition has a six-speed auto.

Local prices start at AU$37,950 for the Compass Launch Edition and rise to AU$43,950 (US$33,256) for the Limited, AU$47,941 (US$36,276) for the 80th Anniversary, AU$46,950 (US$35,527) for the S-Limited and top out at AU$51,250 (US$38,783) for the Trailhawk.
