This Modded Aussie Falcon XR6 Turbo Has 1,105 HP, But It Ain’t From A Ford Engine

The Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo is one of the most revered performance cars to ever come out of Australia and is renowned for its ‘Barra’ engine, a 4.0-liter inline-six that could produce up to 436 hp and 425 lb-ft (576 Nm) of torque from the factory.

However, what really makes the Barra special is just how easy it is to modify and upgrade. Even so, the owner of the XR6 Turbo featured in this video from fullBoost decided to remove this engine and has instead slotted in an LS V8 with a huge turbocharger. Diehard Falcon fans probably won’t like it but it is effective. Very effective.

To see just how much power the modified Falcon has, the owner strapped it onto a dyno and during the first run it pumps out no less than 877 hp through the rear wheels. As the boost was gently dialed up, power continued to climb so high that the car started to experience some wheel spin on the dyno. It was then transferred to a hub dyno to remove any wheel spin and eventually hit 1,105 hp while running on 21 psi of boost.

The owner has managed to keep the car looking relatively stock. The only things that stick out are a rear spoiler, aftermarket wheels with beefy tires that help to stick it to the pavement and a set of Brembo brakes for extra stopping power. Given the engine’s output, the Falcon’s owner hopes the car will be able to dip into the 8-second range down the quarter-mile.
