Callaway Corvette C8 Launch Edition Coming To Carlisle With Aggressive Aero

Callaway is famous for tuning Corvettes and the company will unveil their latest creation at the “Corvettes at Carlisle” event in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Dubbed the Launch Edition, the model is based on the C8 Stingray and features a lightly modified exterior with a carbon fiber diffuser and a “Double-D” exhaust system. Buyers will also find a set of forged wheels, which will apparently be available in five finishes – ranging from matte bronze to satin black – and save over 26 lbs (12 kg) of weight.

Customers looking for something more aggressive can get an aerodynamic styling package. Details are limited, but two Aero Groups will be available and pictures suggest one of them will include a front splitter, sportier side skirts, a ventilated rear fascia, and a carbon fiber wing.

The company hasn’t forgotten about the interior as drivers will find an Alcantara horn cover, billet pedals and Callaway-branded door sill plates. They’ll be joined by embroidered floor mats and a build plaque.

On the performance front, the 6.2-liter V8 will be outfitted with a new manifold and a “Honker” inlet air system. There’s no word on whether or not the changes will increase performance, but the standard model has 490 hp (365 kW / 497 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque, while the Z51 Performance Package boosts that to 495 hp (369 kW / 502 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. The latter enables the Corvette to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.9 seconds and run the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 121 mph (195 km/h).

While a number of questions remain, the Callaway Corvette C8 Launch Edition will have a 3 year / 36,000 mile limited warranty and customers will be able to opt for a mysterious handling package as well as track or factory delivery.
